Suspects in fatal Christmas Eve shooting in Selma caught by task force
A pair of suspects in the fatal shooting of a teenager in Selma on Christmas Eve were apprehended last week by a task force who seek to capture fugitives.
Fredricquez Richardson and Frederick Whitt were among five fugitives nabbed last week by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and multiple other local law enforcement agencies, WSFA reported.
Richardson, 25 and Whitt, 20, were wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Jaylen Whatley.
Whatley was found shot in the hedges in front of an apartment at the Bradley Homes complex in Selma on Christmas Eve, according to court records in Richardson’s case.
Also apprehended during last week’s fugitive sweep were Loveless Alexander, who was wanted on first-degree rape, sexual assault and attempted sodomy charges; Derrick Maye on a federal possession with intent to distribute meth charge; and Timothy Moore, who was wanted on charges of possession of marijuana, fleeing and eluding.
