Suspects had plans to bring 83 pounds of marijuana to BHM airport: Police
Two suspects were arrested on trafficking charges after police said they planneed to bring more than 83 pounds of marijuana into Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.
The Birmingham Police Department’s Vice/Narcotics Unit learned that two people were bringing a large amount of marijuana into the airport, the department said Friday.
Police detectives identified the suspects Wednesday as Jesus Ismael Prado-Garia, 36, and Edward Cisneros, 25.
While interviewing the suspects, detectives found them with 37,866 grams — or 83 1/2 pounds — of marijuana, police said.
Garia and Cisneros were taken to the Jefferson County jail on charges of trafficking in marijuana.
The department did not release further information on the case.
