Suspect sought in home invasion of elderly woman in central Alabama

Authorities are searching for a suspect involved in the home invasion of an elderly woman Monday in central Alabama.

The unknown suspect knocked on the victim’s door in the 2300 block of Bullock County Road 14 around 2 p.m. Monday and asked for water before forcefully entering her home and taking her purse and cell phone before fleeing, according to Central Alabama CrimeStoppers, which cited the Bullock County Sheriff’s Office. Inside her purse were checks, cash and a debit card.

The suspect then fled the scene in a small vehicle with a torn seat, CrimeStoppers said.

Surveillance footage was obtained of the suspect, who was described as wearing a red T-shirt and blue jean shorts. He was also missing his front teeth.

Further details on the incident were not released, but anyone with information on the investigation was asked to call police or CrimeStoppers, which is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect responsible for the home invasion.
