Suspect shot by deputies serving warrant in Cullman County, sheriff says
A suspect was taken to the hospital after being shot by sheriff’s deputies serving a warrant in Cullman County on Saturday morning, authorities said.
Deputies were attempting to serve a warrant in the Bethel community, according to the sheriff’s office.
“Following a brief verbal exchange, gunfire was exchanged, and the suspect was struck,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. “Deputies immediately rendered first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. The suspect was then transported to a local hospital for treatment.”
The sheriff’s office described the shooting as an “isolated incident” that doesn’t pose an ongoing threat to the community.
Further details haven’t been released as the sheriff’s office says the investigation is still active.
