Suspect reportedly dies in crash after pursuit by Mobile County sheriff’s deputies
An armed suspect being pursued by Mobile County sheriff’s deputies was reportedly killed after crashing the motorcycle he was riding at high speeds.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Bay Road after Jesse Tyler Scott was acting disorderly Tuesday, Fox 10 reported.
Scott, who was armed, left the house on a motorcycle when deputies spotted the vehicle on Bellingrath Road.
A pursuit ensued, but deputies called off the chase when speeds reached upwards of 80 m.p.h., Sheriff Paul Burch told Fox 10.
“Within 30-45 seconds after he crashed into another vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene,” said Burch.
Authorities believed Scott’s ex-girlfriend was at the house he went to armed with a gun. They said they received reports Scott was at the house last week when occupants heard shots fired.
“We have listened to the recordings and the chase was terminated well before the crash,” added Burch. “They said he was armed, and in fact we have recovered the gun. He has a violent criminal history, and those are the kind of people that we will safely pursue if need be.”
Scott had an outstanding warrant for robbery with Mobile police, deputies learned after the incident.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the incident while the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is probing the crash that killed Scott.
