Suspect indicted in fatal shooting of 50-year-old man in Ensley
A Center Point man has been indicted in the 2024 shooting death of a 50-year-old in Ensley.
A Jefferson County grand jury on March 7 issued the murder indictment against 43-year-old Cedric Campbell, according to court records made public Wednesday.
He is charged in the April 28, 2024, killing of Terry Hinson. Campbell was initially arrested on the murder charge within a week of the homicide.
Shots rang out about 3:30 p.m. that Sunday on Avenue I in a neighborhood just off 18th Street in Ensley,
Police said Hinson was hanging out with several people when a dispute broke out. The suspect fired at least nine shots and fled.

Hinson collapsed on Avenue I, in front of a house and some vehicles.
A citizen was rendering aid to him when police arrived, but Hinson was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities previously said it’s possible the dispute stemmed from a dice game.
Campbell remains out of jail on $150,000 bond.
