Suspect in Alabama Walmart shootout charged in Paparazzi Club shooting
Mobile police say the latest suspect arrested in relation to a shootout that took place inside a Walmart also will be charged in a downtown nightclub shooting and a home invasion.
The Walmart shooting took place Dec. 27 at the Walmart on Mobile’s I-65 beltline. Police said two groups met as one was entering the store while the other was in the checkout area at about 8:30 p.m., and gunfire was exchanged. Two people were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. With days police identified Karmelo Derks, 18; Jimaurice Pierce, 19; and Darrius Rowser, 19, as suspects. Derks was arrested Dec. 30.
Early Wednesday morning, police released news that Rowser had been arrested. According to police information, Rowser also is a suspect in a Dec. 16 home invasion in which three men forced their way into a home in the 2000 block of Dukes Avenue. The three assaulted one victim, fired shots at another as he fled and stole property.
Additionally, police say, Roswer will be charged in a shooting that took place early in the morning of Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Paparazzi Club, a downtown venue on Dauphin Street. Four people were injured by gunfire in that case. Another suspect, John McCarroll, 28, has been charged with assault in that case.
In all, police say, Rowser will be charged with attempted murder, five counts of assault, first-degree burglary, shooting into an unoccupied vehicle, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and reckless endangerment.
