Suspect guilty of capital murder in Mobile County double shooting gets life

A man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after he was found guilty by a Mobile County jury of capital murder in a fatal 2017 double shooting, prosecutors said Friday.

The jury convicted Darrell Watts, of Chickasaw, of capital murder in the December 21, 2017 slayings of Kenneth Foster and James Rutledge.

Trial testimony showed Watts shot and killed both men with a revolver. The victims were found dead in front of a residence on the 2100 block of Felix Street.

“We cannot stand for this type of violence.” Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood said.” We are thankful the families of Mr. Foster and Mr. Rutledge received justice for their tragic loss.”

Mobile County Judge Charles Graddick sentenced Watts to life in prison without the possibility of parole following his conviction on Friday.
