A suspect has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal Oxford house fire in June that killed two men and injured an 8-year-old girl, the city’s police chief said Wednesday.

Arthur Turner, 51, was arrested in Knoxville, Tennessee on Nov. 3 and charged with two counts of murder in connection with the June 20 house fire in the 20 block of Main Street following “a lengthy and technical investigation,” said Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge.

Turner is being held in the Calhoun County jail.

Further charges are also pending against the 51-year-old suspect, Partridge said.
