Suspect charged with murder in fatal 2022 Montgomery shooting

A suspect in the fatal shooting of a Prattville man in Montgomery has been charged with murder more than a year after the slaying, police said Wednesday.

The suspect in the death of 45-year-old Prattville resident Michael Cook, 31-year-old Michael Mims, who is also from Prattville, was taken to the Montgomery County jail Tuesday without bond, said Maj. Saba Coleman of Montgomery police on Wednesday.

Cook was shot dead May 6, 2022 in the 3500 block of Dalraida Court.

Mims was served an arrest warrant in the case on Nov. 18 while he was in the custody of the Alabama Department of Corrections on unrelated charges, said Coleman.

Further information was not released.
