A suspect was charged with capital murder Thursday in connection with a fatal stabbing Wednesday of a 35-year-old man in Montgomery, police said.

Gerkuz Johnson, 27, is being held in the Montgomery County jail without bond in the death of 35-year-old Darrell Cates, police said.

Cates was found stabbed Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of South Burbank Drive, WSFA reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further information was not released by police, who said the investigation was ongoing as of Thursday evening.
