Suspect charged in slaying of Dothan woman whose body was found in Florida bay
A Florida man has been charged in the disappearance and death of a Dothan woman who disappeared four months ago.
Santeni Green, 41, is charged with murder in the slaying of 32-year-old Marisa Allen.
The investigation began on Oct. 31, 2023, when Dothan police were called to perform a welfare check on Allen at an apartment in the 600 block of South Lena Street. The caller told officers they’d had no contact with Allen and were worried about her.
Officers knocked on the front door, but there was no answer. They then went around to the back of the apartment and noticed the backdoor was unsecured, so they went inside.
Dothan police Lt. Scott Owens said Allen was not there, and a missing persons’ investigation began.
On Nov. 5, 2023, Allen’s body was found in a body of water in Lynn Haven in Bay County, Fla.
Green at that point was taken into custody on a charge of tampering with physical evidence.
He has been held in the Bay County Jail without bond since then.
After Allen’s body was discovered, Owens said, investigators obtained a search warrant for her apartment and found evidence of foul play.
Forensic analysis on that evidence was completed Monday, which led to police obtaining the murder warrant against Green.
Green and Allen were acquaintances. A motive has not been disclosed by authorities.
