Suspect charged in robbery, killing of 42-year-old Irondale man in Birmingham
A suspect has been charged in the shooting death of another man in Birmingham earlier this week.
Demetrius Lamont Henry, 22, is charged with capital murder in the killing of 42-year-old Stephen Foster Kemp.
West Precinct officers were dispatched about 7 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a person shot in the 1100 block of Avenue F.
They arrived to find Kemp inside a vehicle that had been struck by the gunfire.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service took Kemp to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:49 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said Kemp was killed during a robbery. Additional details weren’t released.
Birmingham’s Crime Reduction Team and Tactical Unit officers took Henry into custody Thursday at an apartment complex on Beacon Parkway.
He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 8:28 p.m. Friday and remains held without bond.
