Suspect charged in fatal shooting of 65-year-old man following argument inside Birmingham home

A suspect has been charged in the weekend shooting death of a 65-year-old man at an Ensley home.

Timothy Williams, 55, is charged with murder in the slaying of Rodger Davis, Birmingham police announced Thursday.

West Precinct officers were dispatched at 1:40 a.m. Saturday to a report of a person shot in the 600 block of 13th Street Ensley.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said when officers got to the residence, they found Davis, of Fairfield, unresponsive inside. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced Davis dead on the scene.

Investigators said the deadly shooting followed an argument between two men.

Williams was taken into custody several hours later in the 700 block of 19th Street South. He was placed into the Birmingham City Jail on an investigative hold.

Detectives on Sunday obtained the murder warrant against Williams.

Williams was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Sunday, and released on $150,000 bond Wednesday following an Aniah’s Law bond hearing.
