Suspect charged in fatal Mobile hit-and-run accident
A suspect was arrested Monday and charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident earlier this month that killed a pedestrian in Mobile, police said.
Jasman Jerome Johnson, 32, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, according to Mobile County Metro Jail records.
The incident occurred around 10:57 p.m. Feb. 18, when Mobile officers responded to Old Shell Road and Lafayette Street on a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, police said.
Officers learned the victim, 23-year-old John Wesley Holt, was hit while standing in the middle of the road by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Holt was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries Feb. 21.
Mobile police arrested Johnson on Monday before taking him to jail.
