Suspect arrested, charged with capital murder in fatal 2019 shooting of central Alabama man

A suspect was arrested Thursday and charged with capital murder in the fatal shooting of a central Alabama man more than four years ago, authorities said Friday.

Leadam Quintez Kelly, 42, of Goodwater, in Coosa County, is being held without bond in the Coosa County Jail without bond on charges of capital murder, drug trafficking and possession of marijuana, according to jail records.

Kelly was arrested Thursday in connection with the slaying of Andre Lamonde Davis, 29, of Kellyton on Feb. 3, 2019, said the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office. The office asked the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency to work the case in the early stages of the investigation.

He is facing capital murder charges because Davis was shot in a vehicle.

On Feb. 3, 2019 at around 9:28 p.m., Coosa County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of “what appeared to be a traffic accident,” the office said Friday.

Deputies determined Davis was shot. The Kellyton man was later pronounced dead by the county coroner.
