Scott Rials has seen a lot in his long career as a high school football coach.

In 2011, his Elba Tigers won the Class 2A state championship to cap a 15-0 season. In 2018, his Luverne team, also Tigers, lost 21-19 to Fyffe in the 2A title game in the Red Devils’ second of seven championships won – so far – by coach Paul Benefield.
