Stocks with south Alabama ties sport gains on Mobile, state stock report
Our Mobile and Alabama Stock Report closed out a woeful September with a fairly even mixture of gainers and losers on Friday.
The biggest percentages on the board came on the positive side, with Community Health Systems gaining 5.5%. The Franklin, Tennessee-based, company has six locations in Alabama: Birmingham, Dothan, Enterprise, Foley, Gadsden and Huntsville.
Enviva was a close second with a gain of 4.6%. The wood pellet manufacturer partially exports out of the Port of Mobile and has a major facility coming soon to Epes in Sumter County.
Honda led the decliners at -3.4%.
Overall, Wall Street closed out its worst month and quarter of the year with more losses on Friday.
The S&P 500 slipped 0.3% after a gain from the morning withered, and the majority of stocks within the index sank. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 158 points, or 0.5%, and the Nasdaq composite edged higher by 0.1%.
