Stevie Nicks returning to Alabama in 2023: How to get tickets
Stevie Nicks, the dusky-voiced rocker who made her fame as a standout member of Fleetwood Mac, has announced 14 solo concert dates this year, including a show in Alabama.
Nicks, 74, is set to perform on April 5 in Birmingham at the Legacy Arena at the BJCC. Ticket prices for the 7 p.m. show are $59.50, $99.50, $149.50, $225 and $279.50, plus service charges, via Ticketmaster. They go on sale Friday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. CT.
Promoter Live Nation/Red Mountain Entertainment announced the Birmingham date on Monday, along with concerts in Southern cities such as New Orleans (April 2, Smoothie King Center); Knoxville, Tennessee (May 16, Thompson-Boling Arena); and Atlanta (May 22, State Farm Arena).
Nicks, a charismatic singer-songwriter, returns to Alabama after a sold-out show on Halloween 2022 at the Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville. More than 800 people were “mesmerized by Nicks, rock & roll’s ultimate witch,” Matt Wake said in his review for AL.com.
“Backed by her ace eight-piece band, she radiated the talent that made her the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s first two-time female inductee,” the review said. “Onstage at Orion, her aura remained ageless. … From the first note she sang, Nicks’ voice charged the electrons in the air. It’s a haunting, stirring sound. Even though she has her own rock heroes, including Janis Joplin, Nicks has never sounded anything like them. And no one since has sounded like Stevie Nicks either. She owns her frequency.”
Nicks’ setlist in Huntsville included Fleetwood Mac gems such as “Gold Dust Woman,” “Landslide,” “Dreams” and “Rhiannon,” along with signature songs from her solo catalog such as “Bella Donna,” “Wild Heart,” “Enchanted” and “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” (See the full setlist here.)

Nicks is a longtime favorite in Alabama, especially in the Birmingham area, where she has performed with Fleetwood Mac, as a solo artist and during her early career with the duo Buckingham Nicks.
Birmingham’s love affair with Nicks dates back to 1975, when she and Lindsey Buckingham performed at Municipal Auditorium (now called Boutwell Auditorium) to promote their self-titled debut album, “Buckingham Nicks.” Thanks to airplay on a local radio station, the record was wholeheartedly embraced here, and Birmingham was one of a few cities where fans turned out in force for the duo. Both Nicks and Buckingham, who were shortly to join Fleetwood Mac, have said the Birmingham concert provided their first taste of stardom.

Nicks made her last appearance in Birmingham in 2019 with Fleetwood Mac, minus Buckingham but joined by four members of the band’s best-known lineup: bassist John McVie, drummer Mick Fleetwood and singer-keyboard player Christine McVie.

Nicks also played Birmingham in 2003 with Fleetwood Mac, on a tour that included Buckingham but not McVie. In July 1998, Nicks played with her solo band at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Pelham.
With Fleetwood Mac, Nicks has been a prime mover for albums such as 1977′s “Rumours,” 1979′s double album “Tusk” and 1987′s “Tango in the Night.” Her solo studio albums range from 1981′s “Bella Donna” to 2014′s “24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault.”
