Stephen A. Smith responds to LeBron James confronting him over Bronny

Stephen A. Smith has responded.

A day after the ESPN personality was confronted at Thursday night’s Lakers overtime win over the Knicks by

LeBron James, Smith reacted to the interaction, which was caught on camera and went viral.

What James said remains unclear, though, Smith did say it was not appropriate for broadcast television.

However, Smith did say it was about James’ son, Bronny James.

Smith said LeBron James was mad over “what he thought he had heard” Smith say about Bronny.

“That wasn’t a basketball player confronting me,” Smith said Friday morning. “That was a parent. That was a father. I can’t sit here and be angry or feel slighted by LeBron James in any way in that regard.”

Smith said LeBron James took “exception to what he thought I said.”

He added he would’ve met with LeBron James had he reached out to talk about any issues he might have had.

“That was not what he elected to do,” Smith added. “Instead, he elected to confront me, while I was sitting courtside. … He walked right up to me and said what he had to say. Apparently, he feels I was slighting his son.”

Bronny James is currently averaging 1.4 points per game and shooting just 25 percent from the field.
