State NFL roundup: Tyreek Hill ringing up big stats

State NFL roundup: Tyreek Hill ringing up big stats

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is making the rare game commonplace in the 2022 NFL season.

In the Dolphins’ 24-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Hill caught 12 passes for 177 yards.

The former West Alabama standout has three games with at least 10 receptions and at least 150 receiving yards in the first six weeks of the 2022 campaign, which equals the number of such games recorded by all the other players in the NFL this season. No other player in the history of the Miami franchise has had more than one 10-catch/150-yard game in his career.

Hill became the ninth player to have three 10-catch, 150-yard games in one season, and with eight career games meeting those standards, Hill ranks sixth in NFL history – two behind record-holders Antonio Brown, Andre Johnson and Julio Jones.

Hill had 11 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns n a 42-38 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 18 and 10 receptions for 160 yards in a 27-15 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 29.

Hill has caught passes from three quarterbacks during his three 10/150 games this season. Tua Tagovailoa was the passer against the Ravens. Against the Bengals, Tagovailoa left with a concussion, and Teddy Bridgewater finished the game. On Sunday, with Tagovailoa and Bridgewater having begun the week in the NFL concussion protocol, rookie Skylar Thompson started against the Vikings. But he sustained a thumb injury in the second quarter, and Bridgewater finished the game.

Hill was among the 27 players from Alabama high schools and colleges (excluding Alabama and Auburn) who got on the field on the sixth Sunday of the NFL’s 103rd season.
