State NFL roundup: Former prep QB gets another INT

Cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt got Cincinnati back in the game, but the Bengals couldn’t quite overcome the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Houston defeated Cincinnati 30-27 in one of the NFL’s five games on Sunday that was decided by a final-snap field goal.

Against the Texans, Taylor-Britt tied for the team lead with nine tackles, intercepted one pass and broke up another one.

Taylor-Britt got his fourth interception in five games when he picked off Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud. The former Park Crossing High School quarterback’s 30-yard return put the Bengals on the Texans 4-yard line with 3:33 left to play. Cincinnati scored a touchdown 15 seconds later as the Bengals cut Houston’s lead to 27-24.

Cincinnati dropped a heartbreaker, though, to fall to 5-4, which is the worst record in the AFC North, with the Baltimore Ravens at 7-3 and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns at 6-3.

The Bengals visit the Ravens on Thursday night.

“We just got to come out here next time, put our tent poles in the ground and go stand on business,” Taylor-Britt said.

Taylor-Britt sustained a dislocated finger during Sunday’s game, but trainers were able to pop it back in.

Taylor-Britt was among the 33 players from Alabama high schools and colleges (excluding Alabama and Auburn) who got on the field on the 10th Sunday of the NFL’s 104th season.
