Starbucks closing 7 locations across major U.S. city
Starbucks is closing seven locations across San Francisco, the company announced this week.
The stores will shut down by Oct. 22, CNN reported. The company said the shutdowns are part of a larger evaluation of its existing store portfolio.
“Each year as a standard course of business, we evaluate the store portfolio to determine where we can best meet our community and customers’ needs,” a spokesperson told CNN. “This includes opening new locations, identifying stores in need of investment or renovation, exploring locations where an alternative format is needed and, in some instances, re-evaluating our footprint.”

Employees in the stores will be offered positions at other locations, the company said. After the closures, there will be 52 Starbucks in the San Francisco area.
The announcement comes just weeks after Target said it was closing three stores in the San Francisco/Oakland area due to high crime.
