Star of legendary movie to tell ‘secrets and tales’ at Alabama event
Hot on the heels of a “Napoleon Dynamite” cast show, another classic movie is being celebrated at an equally classic Alabama venue.
The Mobile Saenger Theatre, which presented Jon Heder and other “Napoleon Dynamite” cast members on April 18, has announced an August event focusing on the movie “The Princess Bride.”

It’s billed as “The Princess Bride: An Inconceivable Evening with Cary Elwes” and will take place Aug. 16. General public ticket sales start at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25 through Ticketmaster. Tickets are $35.50 and up, plus fees.
The program will feature a screening of the 1987 fantasy, in which Elwes stars as Westley, a farmer turned pirate seeking to win back a princess (Robin Wright) from the wicked Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon). That will be followed by “a moderated discussion revealing never-before-shared secrets and tales of inconceivable antics.”
According to promotional materials, “A limited number of VIP packages are available and include the best seats in the house, a Meet and Greet with Cary Elwes, and a signed copy of Cary Elwes best-selling book, ‘As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride.’”
Elwes’ other film and TV roles include appearances in “Stranger Things,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” and “Rebel Moon.”
