A standoff is underway in St. Clair County where a man has barricaded himself inside an Odenville home.

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office was attempting to serve an eviction order on a man at 130 Cedar Branch Circle in Odenville around 9 a.m. Friday, said Sheriff Billy Murray.

When deputies encountered the man, he pulled a knife and threatened deputies. He then retreated inside the residence.

The sheriff’s office is being assisted by the Pell City Police Department, the Oxford Police Department, Odenville Police Department, and the FBI in Gadsden.

Authorities are asking people to avoid the area.
