Stamp prices going up again: How much will Forever Stamp be?
Stamp prices are poised to increase again.
The U.S. Postal Service announced Friday it was seeking to raise the price of a first-class Forever stamp from 60 to 63 cents to “offset the rise in inflation.”
A notice of the proposed increase was filed last week with the Postal Regulatory Commission. If approved, the price change will take effect Jan. 22, 2023.
The price for 1-ounce metered mail will increase from 57 cents to 60 cents; postcard prices will rise 4 cents to 48 cents.
“As operating expenses continue to rise, these price adjustments provide the Postal Service with much needed revenue to achieve the financial stability sought by its Delivering for America 10-year plan,” USPS said in a statement. “The prices of the U.S. Postal Service remain among the most affordable in the world.”
Prices are also set to increase on Certified Mail, Post Office Box rental fees, money order fees and the cost to purchase insurance when mailing an item.
Stamp prices most recently increase in July when they jumped to 60 cents from 58 cents after prices rose by 3 cents in August 2021.
