Riley O’Brien couldn’t get his footing right because the pitching mound at historic Rickwood Field was “not in the best shape.”

But the future St. Louis Cardinals pitcher, decked in a vintage uniform, was still able to put up goose eggs for his Montgomery Biscuits minor league team through three innings in that game slightly more than five years ago. O’Brien was the starter for the visiting team the last time the Rickwood Classic against the Birmingham Barons was played inside the one of the oldest ballparks in the United States.
