St. Clair County High School locked down due to gun threat; no evidence of danger found

Rumors of a potential threat prompted a lockdown St. Clair County High School Friday morning.

According to sheriff’s officials, school resource officers and the St. Clair County Board of education were made aware of rumors of threats being made about a possible gun brought to the school in Odenville.

An immediate investigation began overnight, and no credible evidence was found. There is no danger to anyone at this time, sheriff’s officials said.

The sheriff’s office initiated a heavier presence at the school Friday morning to ensure safety until the investigation concluded.

By 10:30 a.m., the school has resumed normal activity.
