Springâs not here yet, Alabama: Much colder temperatures coming Saturday
Alabama’s streak of warm days will come to an end on Saturday, with more winter-like temperatures in the forecast.
The National Weather Service is expecting some rain along with a cold front today, but no severe storms. The rain could begin during the day today in south Alabama. Then a cold front later tonight will bring a chance of showers to the rest of the state, starting in the north and tracking southward.
It won’t be much rain, however. The weather service said a quarter inch or less will be possible, with amounts diminishing as the front works its way southward.
The big change on Saturday will be the drop in temperatures. Instead of highs in the 60s and 70s they will instead top out in the low 40s in north Alabama, the mid-40s to upper 40s in central Alabama and the low to mid-50s in south Alabama (see Saturday’s highs at the top of this post).
Lows tonight will fall into the 30s overnight for places behind the front in north and the northern part of central Alabama, while the rest of the state will stay in the 40s and 50s.

It’ll get colder, however.
Saturday night into Sunday morning will be very cold compared with recent temperatures. Lows will bottom out in the low 20s in north Alabama, the 20s to low 30s in central Alabama and the low to mid-30s in south Alabama.

Those colder temperatures won’t hang around, however. The weather service expects temperatures to slowly climb through next week, and all of Alabama should have highs in the 60s and 70s by next Wednesday.
Severe weather is not expected through next week as well.
