Daphne, the fifth-ranked team in Class 7A softball, beat 6A No. 3 Saraland 6-1 on Saturday to claim the championship of the Saraland Varsity Invitational tournament. The Trojans are 27-1 on the season.

Vic Moten struck out 12 in the 5-inning contest, including the final three batters in the bottom of the fifth. She gave up an earned run on 4 hits and walked 2 and helped herself at the plate with a double and 2 runs scored.

The Trojans opened the scoring in the top of the first after Abby J. Johnson and Moten started the game with back-to-back singles. Cammy Herport’s sacrifice fly drove in a run and Dasia Matt’s single to shortstop brought in another run.

In the bottom of the fourth, Saraland got on the board when Myleigh Dobbins opened the inning with a single up the middle. Anna Claire Cole drove in Dobbins to cut the Daphne lead to 2-1.

Daphne responded with 4 runs in the fifth as Johnson led off with a solo homer to center field. Moten doubled and scored on an error on a groundout by Hannah Newport. Abby Newsome smacked a solo homer to center before Matt singled, stole second and third and scored on a Farley Harris single.

Johnson went 3-for-3 with a home run, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Matt was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Newsom was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Harris also had a hit and an RBI.

Saraland’s Dobbins was saddled with the loss, allowing 6 runs – 4 earned – on 9 hits with 6 strikeouts in 5 innings. She was 2-for-2 at the plate. Cole doubled and drove in a run. Gracie Dees was 1-for-1.

In the tournament, Daphne beat Gulf Shores 3-2, Theodore 13-0, T.R. Miller 5-0 and Satsuma 4-0 in the semifinals.

Saraland beat Faith Academy 10-2 and Daphne topped Satsuma 4-0 in the semifinals.

Presley Willis smacked a walk-off grand slam in the fifth inning to lift the Gators past Gulf Shores in the Saraland Varsity Invitational tournament on Saturday. Willis finished 3-for-3 for Satsuma, the fourth-ranked Class 4A squad.

Belle Sheffield picked up the win, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits with 5 strikeouts and no walks over 5 innings.

On Friday, Satsuma beat Foley 7-2 in the tournament with Anna Jo Bonds earning the win in the circle. She gave up 2 runs on 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and no walks in 5 innings.

Willis, Bralee Byrd and Jaiden Corlett had 2 hits each for the Gators. Ella Howell had a pair of RBIs.

Satsuma also beat Mobile Christian 2-0 on Friday as Sheffield and Madison Sawyer hit back-to-back solo home runs.

Sawyer got the win, allowing 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and a walk in 4 innings.

Following spring break, Satsuma will carry a 28-7-1 record into its final area game on April 16 at Jackson.

Baldwin County 3, Mary G. Montgomery 2

Florida Atlantic University commitment Madilyn Byrd struck out 12 as Baldwin County edged Mary G. Montgomery on the road on Friday. She gave up 2 runs on 3 hits with no walks.

Madisyn Williams drove in a run on a groundout in the first inning and Mikayla Baumgartner smacked a 2-run home run to left field to put the Tigers up 3-0 in the top of the fourth.

Ryann Wallace, Breleigh Corley and Ah’Kyla Miller also had hits for Baldwin County.

Emilee Perry took the loss for the Vikings, allowing 3 unearned runs on 3 hits with 6 strikeouts and a walk.

Thomasville 17, Excel 1

Thomasville routed Class 3A, Area 4 foe Excel on the road on Friday, led by Imani Brothers, who was 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs for the Tigers.

Mardie Carpenter went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and Stevie Grace Collins went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs in the win.

Zion Howard earned the win, allowing a run on 3 hits with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks over 4 innings.

The Tigers pushed their record to 23-4 on the year and 5-0 in area play.

Hoover 7, Tipton-Rosemark Academy (Tenn.) 1

The Bucs beat Tipton-Rosemark Academy of Millington, Tenn., on Friday in the Brentwood (Tenn.) Invitational.

Hoover jumped to a 5-0 lead after one inning and added 2 more on an RBI double by Mollie Hanson and an RBI single by Savannah Whalen. Hanson, MC Detwiler and Whalen combined for 5 of the Bucs’ 10 hits. Lindsey Westhoven also had 2 hits with 2 RBIs in the win.

Olivia Christian earned the win, throwing 2 shutout innings and allowing 2 hits.

Hoover also beat Oakland of Murfreesboro, Tenn., 7-0 on Friday. Kaitlyn Raines struck out 10, allowed 3 hits and walked 2 in 5 innings.

Hannah Christian went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs for Hoover. Bella Foran and Olivia Christian drove in a run each.

Leeds 9, Shades Valley 0

The Green Wave (13-3-1) rolled past Shades Valley on the road on Saturday in a 4-inning game.

Katelyn Howard and Selah Larson both had doubles and drove in a pair of runs each for Leeds. Howard was 1-for-2 with 2 runs scored and Larson went 2-for-3 at the plate. Rhyan Carson was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Katrina Poe went 1-for-1 with 2 runs.

Audrey Whitcomb got the shutout win in the circle, allowing 4 hits and striking out 3.

Carleigh Blackwell took the loss for the Mounties, allowing 7 earned runs on 4 hits with 8 walks in 3 innings.

Jenna Paxton, Kharly DeLaine, Ariana Rice and Brooklyn Cossey had singles for Shades Valley.

Leeds and Shelby County battled to a 3-3 tie in another 4-inning game on Saturday. The Green Wave scored all of its runs in the bottom of the third to knot the score after Shelby County got a run in the first and 2 in the second.

Larson and Sophie Gromko had doubles for Leeds. Larson and Carson both had RBIs. Marley Miller was 1-for-1 with a run scored.

Jayda Edwards gave up 2 earned runs on 1 hit for Leeds in 3 innings in relief of Ashlynn Mayfield. Edwards struck out 2 and walked 5. Mayfield gave up an unearned run and walked a batter in the first.

Aaliyah Chaisson gave up 3 earned runs on 3 hits with 3 strikeouts and 4 walks in 3 innings for Shelby County. She also had an RBI sacrifice fly. Danslen Connell got the Wildcats’ lone hit.

Gardendale 9, Cordova 3

The Class 6A No. 10 Rockets went 2-1 in tournament play on Saturday, beating Cordova and Mortimer Jordan and falling to Carbon Hill.

In the win over Cordova, Gardendale’s Emerson Murrell, Ella Neal and Alexis Piersol all had 2 hits. Neal was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs and Piersol was also 2-for-2.

In a 3-0 win over Mortimer Jordan, Sophie Gant pitched the 6-inning shutout, allowing 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and a walk. She also contributed an RBI at the plate. Kenley Vaughn went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

In a 7-1 loss to Carbon Hill, Vaughn had an RBI sacrifice fly.

On Friday, Gardendale beat Carbon Hill 7-5 and lost 3-2 to Helena. In the 7-5 win over Carbon Hill, Miya Covington and Neal were both 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Anna Valentine went 3-for-3 in the 3-2 loss to Helena.

Gardendale is 20-7-1 on the season.

Brooks 12, Grissom 0

The sixth-ranked Class 4A Lions shut out 7A Grissom at home on Saturday, pushing runs across in all four innings – 3 in the first, 4 in the second and fourth and 1 in the third.

Abby Herndon picked up the win for Brooks, blanking the Tigers over 4 innings on 2 hits with 4 strikeouts. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Hatton Behel gave up a hit in an inning’s relief work.

Preslie Bunch was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored for Brooks, BrayLeigh Leone was 2-for-3 with a double, 3 RBIs and a run and Faith Roberson went 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBIs. Karley Moreland was 1-for-2 and Harmony Behel was 1-for-2 with 2 runs.

Mahaley Lassie had a triple for Grissom with Sarah Keeling and Candice Chambers also adding hits.

Brooks swept a double-header from Boyd Buchanan of Chattanooga at home on Friday.

In Game 1, Brooks scored all 7 of its runs in the third inning and gave up a run in the top of the seventh. Ellie Partrick picked up the win for Brooks, allowing an earned run on 3 hits with 7 strikeouts and 3 walks in 6 innings.

Preslie Bunch doubled in 2 at-bats for Brooks and scored a run. Faith Roberson went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Karley Moreland was 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a run and Mackenzie Fuqua was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run.

In the 4-inning Game 2, Brooks broke out of the gate with a 5-run first, added 2 in both the second and third innings and scored 3 in the fourth. The Lions pounded out 15 hits to 4 for the Buccaneers.

Baylee Darby and Moreland had 2 doubles each in the win. Roberson and Abby Herndon also had doubles for Brooks. Herndon was 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs and a run scored.

Darby was 2-for-3, Harmony Behel went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored, BrayLeigh Leone was 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs and Moreland was 2-for-3 with 2 runs and an RBI.

The Class 5A No. 2 Valley Cubs topped visiting 3A No. 6 Piedmont on Friday in a 5-inning game. Alexandria scored 4 runs in the bottom of the first, fourth and fifth innings.

Winning pitcher Pressley Slaton went 3-for-4 with a home run, 6 RBIs and 2 runs scored for the Cubs. She gave up 2 runs – 1 earned – on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts.

Laura Beth NeSmith and Kandice Crosby combined for a 3-inning no-hitter as the Panthers topped Dallas County at home on Friday. Prattville Christian improved to 11-3 on the season, 4-0 in Class 4A, Area 5.

Chloe Hollon had a 3-run home run and Peyton Thrash homered and had 3 RBIs in the win. Paysley Bayer went 2-for-2 with an RBI, Saniyah Weaver was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and Crosby had a 2-run double.

Class 6A No. 9 Briarwood Christian blanked Helena on the road on Friday. Junior Taylor Leib scored 4 goals for the Lions.

Keepers Sophia Stubbs, a sophomore, and eighth-grader Catherine Walker combined for the shutout.

Briarwood is 7-4-3 on the season and 4-0 in Area 8.

Katie Brightwell scored 4 goals as the Trojans beat Tuscaloosa Academy on at home on Friday. Third-ranked Class 1A/3A St. James improved to 9-0-1 on the season. Hope McCain and Sana Shuford also scored goals in the win.

Shuford, Hailey Vance, Mary Grace Hixon, Molly Phillips and Elsa Seeman had assists for St. James.

The Trojans will host Class 6A No. 4 Montgomery Academy on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Prattville Christian 2, Holy Spirit 1

Avery Rogers scored both goals, including the game-winner with just over a minute left, as Prattville Christian got the win at Holy Spirit in Tuscaloosa.

Addison Sutton had an assist for the Panthers (2-7, 1-1 in Class 1A/3A Area 4). Kendall Jordan got the win in goal.

Montgomery Academy’s Gabby Barrera improved to 16-0 at No. 1 singles this season with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Mazie MacGrotty. Barrera and Mae Mae Voltz beat McGrotty/Abigail Brown 5-7, 6-4,10-5 at the No. 1 doubles spot.

Voltz beat Catalina Williams 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles and Lola Campbell beat Hannah Bryant 1-6, 6-3, 10-5 at No. 3.

Oak Mountain wins Spain Park Classic

The Eagles won the 12-team Spain Park Classic meet on Saturday, rolling up 168 points to 89 for second-place Hewitt-Trussville.

Vestavia Hills finished third with 66 points, followed by Center Point (59), Minor (51), Spain Park (50), Thompson (38), Fultondale (28), Chelsea (25), Westminster-Oak Mountain (22), Altamont (15) and Helena (6).

Samantha Bennett of Oak Mountain won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 12.56 and 25.42, respectively. Mahogany Shipp of Minor was second in both races at 12.74 and 26.04.

Shipp also ran the third leg in Minor’s 4×100 relay winning team, along with Jada Bryant, Hannah Murphy and Brooke Adams. Minor’s team ran the event in 49.84, followed by Oak Mountain (50.29) and Center Point (51.04).

Oak Mountain’s Catarina Williams won the 400-meter dash in 58.61, followed by Hewitt-Trussville runners Avery Cahoon (58.96) and Emmie Goodell (1:00.04). Spain Park’s Delaney Vickers won the 800-meter run in 2:13.17, followed by Chelsea’s Ty Cason (2:14.97) and Oak Mountain’s Williams (2:18.22). Hewitt’s Cahoon won the 1600-meter run in 4:56.97. Julia Bueche of Oak Mountain won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.87. Reese Beckner of Vestavia Hills was second at 17.22, followed by Westminster-Oak Mountain’s Elizabeth Bandura at 17.92. Bandura won the 300-meter hurdles at 49.30, followed by Angel Jimerson of Center Point (49.62) and Bueche at 49.90.

Oak Mountain won the 4×400 and 4×800 meter relays, in 4:06.66 and 10:57.61, respectively. Spain Park (4:10.91) was second in the 4×400 with Minor taking third at 4:26.86. Center Point was second in the 4×800 at 11:30.23, followed by Helena (11:51.19).

Oak Mountain’s Samiah Jones won the long jump and the triple jump, at 17-00.00 and 34-10.75. Bob Jones wins its Invitational meet

The host team won the Bob Jones Invitational on Saturday in Madison, out-pointing Sparkman 153.5 to 99.5. James Clemens was third in the 16-team event with 77 points.

Austin finished fourth with 58 points, followed by Athens (51), Buckhorn (44), Mae Jemison (40), Hazel Green (37), Grissom (35), Decatur (28), Clements (22), Lee-Huntsville (18), Alabama School of Cyber Technology (7), Lawrence County (4), Madison County (4) and Lindsay Lane (2).

MaKenzie Williams of Austin won the 100-meter dash at 12.65, followed by Kalah Christopher of Bob Jones (12.72) and Haley Cook-Graham of Grissom (12.78). Summer Sutherlin of Austin won the 200-meter dash at 25.48 – her personal best – followed by Christopher of Bob Jones (25.63) and Cook-Graham of Grissom (26.23).

Sutherlin also won the 400-meters at 58.81, followed by Jolissa Coe of Bob Jones (1:00.39) and Kailey Lett of Buckhorn (1:00.73). Coe won the 800-meter run in 2:23.08, followed by Claire Colo of James Clemens (2:25.54) and Sparkman’s Samantha Menikheim (2:26.99). Ashanti Slaughter of Mae Jemison won the 100- and 300-meter hurdles in 15.63 and 46.84. Mae Jemison’s Amaya Wells was second in the 100 at 16.10 with Austin’s Samyah Hunter-Young taking third at 17.42. Bob Jones’ Coe was second in the 300 at 47.55, followed by Mae Jemison’s Wells at 48.41.

Austin took the 4×100-meter relay in 49.33, followed by Bob Jones (50.81) and Hazel Green (51.39). Hazel Green was second in 57.16 and Austin was third at 1:00.38.

Sparkman took the 4×400 relay in 4:10.14, followed by Bob Jones (4:14.54) and Buckhorn (4:15.46). Sparkman also won the 4×800 (10:44.73) with Buckhorn (11:09.58) and Hazel Green (11:33.47) in second and third.

Jasmyne Rochelle of Bob Jones won the high jump at 5-02.00, followed by Madison Ciszczon of James Clemens (5-00.00) and Mya Lacey of Bob Jones (4-10.00). The fifth-ranked Class 6A Patriots whipped Pinson Valley at home on Friday to improve to 19-8 on the season.

Jack Ross went 3-for-3 for Homewood with 3 RBIs. Jeremiah Gary, Jack Bland and Will Siegel had RBI hits for the Patriots. Bland earned the win on the mound.

Homewood travels to Area 9 foe Mountain Brook on Tuesday and will host the Spartans on Thursday.

Briarwood Christian 13, Stanhope Elmore 5

The Lions whipped Stanhope Elmore on the road on Saturday with Jacob Souders going 4-for-4 with a home run and 2 doubles with 2 runs scored and a pair of RBIs.

Leadoff batter Houston Hartsfield went 2-for-4 with 2 doubles, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored for Briarwood. James Clark went 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

Brayden Robertson earned the win in the circle, pitching 2.1 innings in relief of Hartsfield. Robertson did not allow a run on 1 hit with a strikeout and 4 walks. Hartsfield allowed 5 earned runs on 6 hits with 2 strikeouts and 3 walks. Parker Sfakianos pitched the final 1.2 shutout innings with a pair of strikeouts.

Ethan Walls went 2-for-3 with a home run, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored for Stanhope Elmore. Mack Boswell was 2-for-3 with a run.

Greyson Jones took the loss, allowing 6 runs – 4 earned – on 8 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks in 4 innings.

The Rebels beat Briarwood at home on Friday, with William Tonsmeire Jr. leading the way at the plate. Tonsmeire was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

John Paul Head was 1-for-3 for Vestavia Hills with an RBI and a run scored. Will Bourland went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Dean Walker and Miles Plugge also had RBIs.

Starter Matthew Ledbetter earned the win, throwing 2 shutout innings with a hit, 2 strikeouts and a walk.

The second-ranked Class 7A Patriots completed a three-game sweep of Area 8 foe Austin on Saturday in Madison. Bob Jones beat the Black Bears 14-1 on Friday in Decatur.

In Saturday’s Game 1, Bob Jones (28-6) scored a run in the first and 2 in the third and fourth innings and held off Austin, which scored single runs in the final three innings.

Tanner Hermesch earned the win, allowing 2 earned runs on 4 hits with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks over 5.2 innings. Gage Wilson gave up an earned run on 2 hits with a strikeout and 2 walks in one-third of an inning in relief. Jack Shaw pitched the final inning, shutting out the Bears with a strikeout.

Braden Booth went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBIs and a run scored for the Patriots. Jacob Pearl was 1-for-2 with a double, 2 runs and an RBI. Gresham Baker was 1-for-3 with a run and Robert Chatmon tripled and scored a run in 3 at-bats.

Easton Palmer took the loss for Austin, allowing 5 runs – 3 earned – on 6 hits with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks over 4.2 innings. Bryant Jones struck out 1 and walked 1 in 1.1 innings in relief.

Judd Bailey was 2-for-4 for the Black Bears and Ethan Wynn, Cole Walker and Trey Harville had singles.

In Game 2, Jackson Shaw and Wilson combined on a 3-hitter for Bob Jones. Shaw struck out 3 and allowed an unearned run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. Wilson also struck out 3 and gave up a hit in 1.2 innings.

Myles Hammonds went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for the Patriots. Vincent Howald was 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and 2 runs. Camden Martin was 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Jones took the loss for Austin, allowing 7 runs – 4 earned – on 4 hits with a strikeout and 2 walks in two-thirds of an inning. Brooks Olinger gave up 4 runs – 3 earned – on 7 hits with a strikeout in relief.

Palmer was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Bentley Stidham and Harville were both 1-for-2 at the plate.

In Friday’s series opener, Booth pitched a 1-hitter for Bob Jones, allowing an unearned run with 11 strikeouts and 3 walks in 5 innings. He also had a sacrifice RBI.

The Patriots pounded out 10 hits – 7 for extra bases, including Dillon Adkins’ home run and triples by Baker, Pearl and Zackary Johnson. Joshua Wilhide, Chapman and Reece Cato all had doubles.

Johnson drove in 4 runs with Cato and Chatmon notching 2 RBIs each. Baker and Wilhide had 2 hits each with Baker and Hammonds scoring 3 runs apiece.

Caden Sons took the loss, giving up 14 runs – 9 earned – on 9 hits with 2 strikeouts and 4 walks in 5 innings.

Wynn was 1-for-1 with a run scored for Austin.

James Clemens 14-4, Florence 3-3

James Clemens completed a three-game Class 7A, Area 8 sweep with a pair of wins at Florence on Friday. The Jets won the opening game of the series 11-1 at home on Thursday.

In Friday’s Game 1, James Clemens trailed 3-2 headed into the top of the seventh when the Jets exploded for 12 runs. The Jets finished with 11 hits and capitalized on 3 errors by the Falcons.

Ty Marsh went 1-for-4 with 4 RBIs for the Jets and Jesse Isensee drove in a pair of runs on 2 hits in 4 at-bats. Hayden Markfort was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Carson Loosier was also 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Benjamin Graves was 2-for-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.

Luke Davenport earned the win in relief of Cade McComb. Davenport allowed an unearned run on no hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks in 3 innings. McComb gave up 2 unearned runs on 1 hit with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Easton Nelms got the lone Florence hit and was saddled with the loss. He gave up 10 earned runs on 5 hits with 7 walks in two-thirds of an inning in relief of Eli Martin. The starter allowed 4 runs – 3 earned – on 6 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in 6.1 innings.

In Game 2, James Clemens scored all 4 of its runs in the top of the first and Florence answered with 3 in the bottom of the inning.

Markfort went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Jets. Loosier was 1-for-2 with a run scored and Satchel Wheeler drove in a run with a sacrifice.

Matthew Drinkwater picked up the win with 6 innings of shutout relief of Mason Busch. Drinkwater struck out 8 and walked 4 and gave up a hit. Busch allowed 3 earned runs on 1 hit with a walk.

Cooper Thomaston went 1-for-2 with a double and 3 RBIs for Florence. William Solomon had the Falcons’ other hit.

Henry Blanke took the loss, allowing 4 runs – 3 earned – on 2 hits with 4 strikeouts and 5 walks over 4.1 innings. Solomon gave up no runs on 1 hit with a strikeout and 2 walks in relief.

On Thursday, the Jets jumped out to a 5-0 first-inning lead, added single runs in the second and the fourth and closed out the run-rule game with 4 runs in the bottom of the fifth.

David Sharp went 1-for-2 with a triple and a run scored for James Clemens. The Jets got single RBIs from Markfort, Marsh, Francisco Ramirez, John Johnson, Insensee and Drinkwater. Insensee and Drinkwater had 2 hits each.

Wheeler earned the win, striking out 4 and walking 2 with an earned run on a hit.

Clayton Johnson got Florence’s hit and Justin Johnson took the loss, allowing 6 runs – 4 earned – on 5 hits with a strikeout and 2 walks in 3.1 innings of relief. Starter Hudson Jolly allowed 5 earned runs on 5 hits in two-thirds of an inning.

Ardmore 3, Madison County 1

Ardmore earned the home win on Saturday, scoring all of its runs in the bottom of the first inning and giving up a run in the top of the third.

Cole Clinard got the win, allowing an unearned run on 4 hits over 3 innings. He struck out 2. Dylan Rodgers threw 4 innings of relief, striking out 4 and allowing 3 hits.

Dawson Pearson doubled in 2 at-bats with 2 RBIs and a run scored for Ardmore. Noah Stafford was 1-for-2 with a run scored and Clinard was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Chris Fearnside, Kenneth Spratt and Memphis Scott were all 2-for-3 for Madison County. Braden Reed also had a hit.

Nick Sharp took the loss, allowing 3 unearned runs on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks over 4.2 innings.

Sparkman 6, Westminster Christian 3

The 10th-ranked Class 7A Senators knocked off Class 4A No. 8 Westminster Christian at home on Saturday to improve to 23-7 on the year and end the Wildcats’ win streak at eight games. Westminster is 17-6 this season.

The home team scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the second, gave up a run in the fourth before answering with 3 more in the bottom of the inning and tacked on an insurance run in the fifth. The Wildcats scored a pair in the top of the seventh.

Westminster out-hit the Senators 8-6, but committed 4 errors on the day to none for Sparkman.

Tre Aguon went 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored for the winners. Will Peccia was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Cole Darby went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Sparkman also got hits from Ryan Gross and Amaree Jabbar.

Braxton Williams, the first of five pitchers the Senators sent to the mound, got the win. He gave up an earned run on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and a walk in 4 innings. Tucker Hargett pitched an inning, allowing 2 walks, followed by Brock Simons, Chris Zollinger and Darby. Zollinger gave up a pair of earned runs.

Starter Riley Friend took the loss for the Wildcats, allowing 2 earned runs on 4 hits with a strikeout in 3 innings. Reliever Trey Perkins gave up 3 unearned runs with 4 walks, Amos Baldwin allowed an earned run on 2 hits and a walk and Lawson Collier struck out 1 and walked 1.

Friend helped his cause by going 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Sean Lapinskes had 2 doubles in 4 at-bats with an RBI and a run scored. Collier was 1-for-2 with a double and 2 runs. Caleb Goode was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Montgomery Academy 10-1, Prattville Christian 9-4

Montgomery Academy split a Class 3A, Area 6 double-header at home on Friday, winning the back-and-forth first game in walk-off fashion by scoring on a throwing error at the plate in the bottom of the seventh.

Prattville Christian led 3-0 when Montgomery Academy scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the third thanks to an RBI double by Rick McBride and an RBI single by John Allen Jones. The Panthers pushed the lead to 4-2 in the top of the fourth before McBride’s 2-run double tied the game in the bottom of the inning and took a 5-4 lead on a PCA error.

After Prattville Christian scored 2 to lead 6-5 in the fifth, the Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the inning thanks to an Oscar Fiore RBI double. PCA scored again to lead 7-6 in the sixth before Luke Jones singled in a run, Will Hardin was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Fiore had another RBI double to push the home team up 9-7.

In the top of the seventh, PCA scored a pair of runs to knot the score at 9. Montgomery Academy loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning before Luke Jones smacked a grounder to second and McBride scored on the errant throw.

McBride went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs for the winners. John Allen Jones was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, Luke Jones had 2 RBIs, Hardin was 1-for-2 with 2 RBIs and Fiore was 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs.

Fiore gave up 5 runs – 4 earned – on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts in 4 innings. Hardin gave up 4 runs – 3 earned – on 8 hits in 3 innings.

In Game 2, Prattville Christian held the Eagles to 4 hits – a pair by Luke Jones and single hits by John Allen Jones and McBride.

McBride took the loss for MA (10-11, 2-2 in area play), giving up 3 earned runs on runners he inherited. He did not allow a hit and struck out 2 in 3.2 innings.

BIRMINGHAM

Oak Mountain 6, Hewitt-Trussville 0

Class 7A top-ranked Oak Mountain blanked Hewitt-Trussville on the road on Friday as Nate Joiner and Julian Harrison each scored a pair of goals.

Roy Soldevilla and Grant Eagan also scored goals in the win. Aidan Riley and Sam Laney had 2 assists each.

Owen Wells and Alexander Chaide-Cruz split halves in goal and had a save apiece.

Prattville Christian 2, Holy Spirit 0

The Panthers blanked Holy Spirit on Friday in Tuscaloosa to improve to 1-1 in Class 1A/3A Area 4 play. Prattville Christian is 2-7 on the season.

Cade Segars had a goal and an assist for PCA. Liam Taylor also scored in the win.

Spencer Perkins recorded the shutout in goal.

Montgomery Academy 7, Huntsville 2

Montgomery Academy swept the doubles matches on the way to the win over Huntsville on the road on Saturday.

John Alford and Jackson Brown won the No. 1 doubles match, Ron Sharma and Ford Morano took the win at No. 2 and Anton Yang and Bo Johnston won at No. 3 for the Eagles.

Brown, Morano, Yang and Duncan McInnes won their singles matches as Montgomery Academy ran its record to 9-3 on the season.

The Eagles will host section foe Enterprise on Monday at O’Connor Tennis Center.

On Friday, Montgomery Academy swept Randolph 9-0 in Huntsville.

Brown, Edwin Wu, Morano, Yang, McInnes and Johnston won singles matches for Montgomery Academy.

The Eagles won the three doubles matches with the teams of Brown/Morano, Ron Sharma/Anton Yang and Wu/McInnes.

Chelsea tops Vestavia Hills in Spain Park Classic meet

Chelsea edged Vestavia Hills 117-105 to win the Spain Park Classic track meet on Saturday. Hewitt-Trussville finished third with 92 points.

Oak Mountain was fourth in the 11-team event with 85 points, followed by Center Point (82), Thompson (55), Spain Park (48), Minor (19), Helena (18), Westminster-Oak Mountain (14) and Russellville (8).

Chase Lovell of Oak Mountain won the 100-meter para-ambulatory dash in 19.94. He won the 200 and 400 para-ambulatory races in 44.10 and 1:39.86.

Eryk Brown won both the 100- and 200-meter dash and was ran the anchor leg of Chelsea’s winning 4×100-meter relay team with Owen Key, Brandon Sims and Romello Cooper.

Brown’s winning time in the 100 was 10.65 and in the 200 it was 21.50. The 4×100 team finished at 42.56, ahead of Hewitt-Trussville (42.65) and Vestavia (42.89). Jeremiah Franklin of Center Point was second in the 100 at 11.13, followed by Thompson’s Kayden Washington (11.19).

Washington was second in the 200 at 22.36, followed by Jack Stubbs (22.95) of Vestavia Hills.

Thompson’s Curtis Hill won the 400-meter dash in 49.47, followed by Isaac Battles of Spain Park (50.79) and Nate Bradshaw of Vestavia (50.99). Parker Campbell of Chelsea won the 800-meter run in 1:58.88, followed by Helena’s Aspen Warren (1:59.35) and Oak Mountain’s Whitt Kilgore (2:00.23).

Chelsea’s Campbell won the 1600-meter run in 4:20.03, followed by Oak Mountain teammates Cooper Jeffcoat (4:20.41) and Kilgore (4:30.52). John Shoemaker of Oak Mountain took the 3200-meter run in 9:10.17 with teammate Luke Marvin finishing second at 9:54.42. Westminster-Oak Mountain’s Weaver Caldwell was third at 10:05.17.

Thompson’s Bradley Franklin won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.09, followed by Hewitt’s Dylan Cope (15.09) and Jaileb Ballard of Center Point (15.45). Franklin also won the 300-meter hurdles at 37.84 with Chelsea’s Key finishing second at 40.71 and Ballard of Center Point third at 40.79.

Oak Mountain won the 4×400-meter relay in 3:28.71, followed by Center Point (3:29.66) and Minor (3:42.99). Hewitt-Trussville won the 4×800 relay in 8:24.57 with Center Point taking second (8:40.37) and Spain Park in third at 8:43.97.

Jakobi Arnold of Minor won the high jump at 5-10.00, followed by Hewitt teammates Jamal Hobbs and Anthony Hawkins, both at 5-08.00. Alex Jones of Hewitt won the pole vault at 13-03.00. Vestavia’s Bradshaw won the long jump over teammate Stubbs, both at 21-01.50. Chelsea’s Niles Cummings was third at 20-06.50. Oak Mountain’s Sean Ray won the triple jump at 43-05.50. Chelsea’s Cummings was second at 42-10.00, followed by Chelsea’s Raymond Bridgeman at 42-06.50.

Henry Drew of Vestavia Hills won the shot put at 45-05.00. Zachary Erickson was second at 45-00.00, followed by Chase Kaiser of Vestavia at 45-00.00.

Erickson won the discus throw at 153-04, followed by Jeremiah Hayes of Center Point (138-04) and Vestavia’s Grey Vice (136-08.50). Gabe Pendley of Chelsea won the javelin throw at 169-09. Russellville’s Tait Barnes was second at 142-00 and Hewitt’s Payne Stuart was third at 138-06.

Patriots roll to Bob Jones Invitational championship

Bob Jones won its Invitational track meet title, running away with the championship by outscoring second-place James Clemens 190.5 to 95.5 on Saturday in Madison.

Hazel Green finished third in the 18-team event with 94 points. Sparkman was fourth (73), followed by Grissom (40), Decatur (38), Buckhorn (35), Mae Jemison (28), East Limestone (22), Athens (17), Austin (15), Mars Hill Bible (11), Lee-Huntsville (10), Lindsay Lane (6), Tanner (5), Athens Bible (4), Alabama School of Cyber Technology (3) and Lawrence County (1).

Jordan Urrutia won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes for Bob Jones. He took the 100 in 10.89 seconds, the 200 in 21.34 and the 400 in 49.14. Bob Jones had the top six finishers in the 100, the top 4 in the 200 and the top 2 in the 400.

Zathian Webster of Bob Jones was second in the 100 and 200, at 10.90 and 21.62, respectively. Caleb Sanders of Bob Jones was third in the 100 at 11.18. Elijah Wells was third in the 200 at 22.36. Wells was second in the 400 at 49.73, followed by Malachi Bozeman of Sparkman at 52.59.

Cole Robinson of James Clemens won the 800-meter run at 1:58.71. Hazel Green’s Nehemiah Johnson was second (1:59.93), followed by Caleb Johnson of Bob Jones (1:59.94). Luke Alverson of James Clemens won the 1600-meter run at 4:17.25 with teammate Dylan Dryer taking second at 4:42.28. Noah Spellman of Grissom was third at 4:43.88.

Jack Shattuck of Grissom won the 3200-meter run in 10:21.04 with James Clemens’ Andrew Gohlich taking second in 10:23.92. Grissom’s David Rich was third in 10:39.95.

Isaac Pollard of James Clemens won the 110- and 300-meter hurdles in 15.39 and 39.98. Myles Pope of Hazel Green was second in the 110 at 15.86 and Colt Dixon of Bob Jones was third at 16.12. Dixon was second in the 300 at 41.39. Pope was third at 42.97.

Bob Jones won the 4×100 relay in 43.26, followed by East Limestone (44.00) and Mae Jemison (44.79). Bob Jones also won the 4×400 relay in 3:22.43 with Sparkman finishing second at 3:34.50 and Buckhorn third at 3:39.85. Buckhorn won the 4×800 in 8:51.17, followed by Sparkman (8:53.53) and Sparkman’s B team (8:59.74).

Jalen Bright of Hazel Green won the high jump at 6-00.00, followed by Bob Jones’ Samuel Johnson (5-10.00) and Hazel Green’s Victor Mangrum (5-08.00). Austin Abney of James Clemens won the pole vault at 13-00.00, followed by Sparkman teammates Gavin Steely and Jack Bice, both at 11-06.00.

Samuel Johnson of Bob Jones won the long jump at 21-01.00 and the triple jump at 45-00.25. Austin’s Solomon Lyle took second in the long jump at 20-03.00 and Bob Jones’ Malachi Foster was third at 19-11.00. Skyler Sterling of Mars Hill was second at 43-00.50 and Hazel Green’s Kwesi Jackson was third at 41-04.50.

Tyler Garner of Lee-Huntsville won the shot put at 49-00.50. Nohyjah Taylor of Hazel Green was second at 47-04.25. Decatur’s Tommy Crazier took third at 45-02.00. Jonathan Brabson of Hazel Green won the discus throw at 144-06. Samuel Monroe of Bob Jones was second at 130-04 with Micah Douglas of James Clemens taking third at 130-03.

Will Griffin of Sparkman won the javelin throw at 165-06. Isaiah Lawrence of Grissom was second (155-03) and Crazier of Decatur was third (146-08).
