Spring cold snap: Coldest night could be tonight
Alabama will face yet another night of freezing temperatures tonight, and freeze warnings will be in effect for the entire state.
High temperatures today (Sunday) are only expected to make it into the 40s for a large part of Alabama:
Tonight could be the coldest of this spring cold snap, and some spots in north Alabama could see temperatures in the low 20s by Monday morning.
Monday marks the first day of astronomical spring with the equinox (at 4:24 p.m.), but it will feel more like winter for much of Alabama with highs expected to reach only the 50s statewide.
More cold is expected on Monday night into Tuesday morning, but it may not be quite as chilly as tonight is expected to be:
But there’s good news. After Tuesday a warming trend will begin, and most of Alabama could be back in the 80s by Thursday.

NORTH ALABAMA
* Freeze warning from 9 p.m. today until 10 a.m. Monday for all of north Alabama.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville said temperatures in the low to mid-20s are expected overnight.
CENTRAL ALABAMA
* Freeze warning for all of central Alabama from 9 p.m. today until 10 a.m. Monday.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said temperatures could fall as low as 21 degrees overnight.
* Freeze watch for all of central Alabama from 1 a.m. until 8 a.m. Tuesday.
SOUTH ALABAMA
* Freeze warning for all of southwest Alabama from 10 p.m. today through 10 a.m. Monday.
The National Weather Service in Mobile said temperatures as low as 26 degrees are expected.
* Another freeze warning will be in effect for Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston counties in southeast Alabama from 1 a.m. until 8 a.m. on Monday.
The National Weather Service in Tallahassee said temperatures as low as 28 degrees will be possible.
