Southern Living: These two Alabama cities are great with grandkids
According to the folks at Southern Living, two Alabama cities are among the best vacation destinations if you’re bringing grandchildren along.
It’ll probably come as no surprise that the beach makes the cut for “The Best Places To Travel With Your Grandchildren.” Or that even though Orange Beach is listed, it’s sort of lumped in with Gulf Shores. (The article cites the attractions at The Wharf and dining opportunities such as The Gulf in Orange Beach but recommends a side trip to Gulf Shores to hit venues such as LuLu’s restaurant, The Hangout and Waterville USA.)
The list includes Huntsville as well, particularly “if you have an aspiring astronaut or [grand]kids who love science.” But there’s more to see than just the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, the site says: There’s EarlyWorks Children’s Museum, the Alabama Constitution Village, and the Huntsville Museum of Art, for more “educational and exciting experiences.” Little Rosie’s Taqueria also comes highly recommended.
Alabama fares pretty well, considering the list includes major destinations such as Atlanta; Branson, Mo.; Nashville and Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; Washington, D.C.; and Orlando.
In all, 16 grandparent- and grandchild-friendly destinations made the cut. Read the full Southern Living list.
