South Choctaw Academy snaps Lowndes’ win streak, gives Stacy Luker 7th state title

It had to be a helpless feeling as Lowndes Academy coach Shane Moye watched South Choctaw Academy drive down the field.

South Choctaw owned the ball for nearly 17 of the 24 minutes on the second-half game clock, culminating with Jackson Boykin’s 3-yard scoring run with 2:27 remaining that gave South Choctaw a 14-7 victory in the AISA Class AA state championship game at Cramton Bowl on Thursday.

It was the third state championship for South Choctaw (13-0) and the first since 2007. It was the seventh state title for first-year coach Stacy Luker, the Hall of Fame coach who won five titles at Sweet Water and another at Clarke County.
