South Alabama’s Lackie earns softball All-America honors

South Alabama softball pitcher Olivia Lackie was named a second-team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday.

Lackie, a senior from Walker, La., is just the second player in Jaguars program history to earn All-America honors. Fellow pitcher Hannah Campbell — currently South Alabama’s associate head coach — was a second-team pick in both 2013 and 2014.

Lackie finished the 2024 season with a 25-9 record, a 1.54 ERA, two saves and 231 strikeouts in 243 innings. She was chosen first-team All-Sun Belt Conference for the fourth consecutive year and became just the second pitcher in program history to record 800-plus strikeouts (Devin Brown had 932 from 2015-18; Lackie 903).

Lackie ended her college career with South Alabama program records for appearances (153) and shutouts (41), while tying Campbell for most no-hitters (5). In addition to strikeouts, she is second in Jaguars history in opponent batting average (.183), wins (80), saves (11), complete games (77) and innings pitched (774.2).

Lackie was one of two Sun Belt Conference players on the AFCA All-America team, along with Texas State’s Jessica Mullins, a first-team pick at pitcher. Troy pitcher Libby Baker won a Rawlings Gold Glove Award for the best fielder at her position.

With catcher Sasha Willems and left fielder Bailey Welch, Lackie was also one of three Jaguars name to the College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District team. South Alabama finished the 2024 season 34-20-1, losing to Florida in the Gainesville Regional final.
