South Alabama will play three non-Saturday football games in 2024, including a Tuesday night “Battle for the Belt” vs. Troy.

The Jaguars and Trojans meet Oct. 15 at Hancock Whitney Stadium in a game to be televised by the ESPN family of networks. South Alabama will be looking for its first win over its in-state rival since 2017.

In addition, South Alabama opens Sun Belt Conference play at Appalachian State on Sept. 19, a Thursday night game televised by an ESPN network. The regular season finale vs. Texas State is on Nov. 29, a Friday.

Other Sun Belt home games are Oct. 26 vs. Louisiana-Monroe and Nov. 2 vs. Georgia Southern. Other conference road games are at Arkansas State Oct. 5, at Louisiana Nov. 16 and at Southern Miss Nov. 23.

Previously announced were four non-conference games: at home vs. North Texas Aug. 31 and Northwestern State Sept. 14 and road trips to Ohio Sept. 7 and to LSU Sept. 28. The trip to Baton Rouge is the Jaguars’ first game vs. an SEC school since playing at Tennessee in 2021.

South Alabama went 7-6 and won the 68 Ventures Bowl in 2023 under third-year head coach Kane Wommack, who left in January to become defensive coordinator at Alabama. The Jaguars begin spring practice on March 21.
