South Alabama stocks see big declines
Thursday was a down day on Wall Street and a pair of south Alabama stocks were not spared from the pain.
Enviva, the biggest decliner, plummeted 10.9%.
Mobile-based Computer Programs and Systems lost 5.9%
Meanwhile, a trio of big companies sported the only gains of more than 2%: Toyota (2.4%), Amazon (2.2%) and 3M (2.1%).
Overall, a late-afternoon fade left stocks modestly lower Thursday as Wall Street closed out its first losing month since February.
The S&P 500 gave up an early gain to close 0.2% lower. The benchmark index ended August down 1.8%, though a four-day winning streak going back to last week helped chip away at the severity of the monthly decline.
