South Alabama starting offensive lineman withdrawing from transfer portal
South Alabama offensive lineman Jordan Davis is withdrawing from the transfer portal and returning for his senior season, AL.com has confirmed.
The 6-foot-5, 306-pound Davis — who played his first two college seasons at South Carolina — started 24 of 26 games at left tackle for the Jaguars the last two seasons before entering the portal on April 21. He was a third-team All-Sun Belt Conference pick in 2024, and is now a strong candidate for all-league honors this fall.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel first reported Davis’ withdrawal from the portal. AL.com confirmed the news through multiple sources.
Davis’ return is a big boost for a South Alabama offense that had seen starting quarterback Gio Lopez (North Carolina) and starting right tackle Malachi Carney (Georgia Tech) transfer away since the end of spring practice. The Jaguars also lost three defensive starters — cornerbacks Ricky Fletcher (Ole Miss) and Lardarius Webb (Wake Forest) and outside linebacker Aakil Washington (SMU) — to the portal during the transfer window that ended last Friday.
South Alabama offensive line coach Jason Onyebuagu was among those around the Jaguars’ program excited about the news:
South Alabama finished 7-6 in 2024, its third straight winning season.
