South Alabama QB Carter Bradley declares for NFL draft

South Alabama quarterback Carter Bradley declared Tuesday for the NFL draft.

Bradley, the son of longtime NFL coach Gus Bradley, made the announcement on social media. “To my teammates, it’s been a pleasure to share a field with you and create memories that will last a life time,” he posted. “To (USA offensive coordinator Major) Applewhite and coach (Kane) Wommack, thank you for preparing me to pursue my dream in life. To the South Alabama community and fans, I want to say thank you! Your energy and embrace from day one of arriving in Mobile made it feel like home.”

Bradley passed for 2,156 yards and 13 touchdowns with seven interceptions in eight games this season, but he was injured late in the Jaguars’ loss to Louisiana on Oct. 28.

In 2021, Bradley transferred to South Alabama after started the first four games for the Toledo Rockets in 2021 before losing his starting job to freshman Dequan Finn. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Bradley completed 77 of 129 passes for 972 yards and four touchdowns with one interception this past season, including 221 yards and a touchdown in a 32-29 loss to Notre Dame. He totaled 2,377 yards and 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 21 career games at Toledo.
