South Alabama players sign undrafted free agent deals with NFL clubs

South Alabama did not have a player selected in the NFL draft for the second straight year, but a number of former Jaguars have signed with professional teams as undrafted free agents.

Here’s a running list:

DJ Thomas-Jones, tight end — Pittsburgh Steelers

Thomas-Jones, a former Saraland High School star, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.63 seconds and completed the 20-ayrd shuttle run in 4.21 seconds at South Alabama’s Pro Day. A two-year starter for the Jaguars, Thomas-Jones recorded 73 receptions for 653 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career.

Jamaal Pritchett, wide receiver — New York Jets

Pritchett, a Jackson native, was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference pick in 2024 and participated in the Reese’s Senior Bowl. A former walk-on who began his college career at Tuskegee, he tied a South Alabama program record with 91 receptions last season and ran a 4.39 40-yard dash at Pro Day.

Wy’Kevious Thomas, nose tackle — Seattle Seahawks

Thomas, a native of Riverdale, Ga., was a four-year starter for the Jaguars and a second-team All-Sun Belt pick in 2024. He totaled 176 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks in 66 career games at South Alabama. Former Jaguars defensive end Jamie Sheriff made the team in Seattle as a UDFA last year.
