South Alabama LB Khalil Jacobs to enter transfer portal
South Alabama linebacker Khalil Jacobs will enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on Thursday.
Jacobs’ move comes a day after Jaguars head coach Kane Wommack left to become defensive coordinator at Alabama. The Niceville, Fla., native has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-2, 218-pound Jacobs played in all 13 games and started three at South Alabama in 2023, including the season-ending 68 Ventures Bowl. He was the Jaguars’ second-leading returning tackler with 56 stops, along with 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, three quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles.
The NCAA transfer portal re-opened for 30 days for South Alabama players following Wommack’s resignation. The Jaguars moved quickly to promote offensive coordinator Major Applewhite to head coach on Thursday.
