South Alabama lands first football commitment for 2025
South Alabama landed its first public commitment for the 2025 recruiting class on Monday, from Florida high school linebacker Byron Jackson.
Jackson, from Gadsden County High School just north of Tallahassee, also had scholarship offers from Southern Miss, Troy, South Florida and Maryland, among other schools. He announced his commitment via X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter:
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Jackson plays both inside and outside linebacker and tight end in high school, but is expected to be a pass-rushing outside linebacker in college. He is one of four Gadsden County players who hold scholarship offers from South Alabama, along with lineman Corian Dennis and defensive backs De’Vonta Roberts and Jeremiah Thomas.
The early signing period for the Class of 2025 begins in December.
