South Alabama hires Jon Bradley to complete football staff
South Alabama has hired Jonathan Bradley to be its new defensive line coach, a source confirmed to AL.com.
Bradley comes to the Jaguars from Jackson State, where he was defensive coordinator and D-line coach last season. His hiring completes the 10-man on-field staff for first-year South Alabama coach Major Applewhite.
The 43-year-old Bradley is no stranger to the Sun Belt Conference, having been a two-time all-conference defensive tackle at Arkansas State in the early 2000s and beginning his coaching career with the Red Wolves in 2011. He played four seasons (2004-07) in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions and has also coached at Alcorn State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and North Carolina Central in addition to Jackson State and his alma mater.
Bradley is the second South Alabama assistant to join the Jaguars from Jackson State, along with offensive line coach Jason Onyebuagu. The two also both coached at Arkansas-Pine Bluff and North Carolina Central.
South Alabama announced five members of its coaching staff on Monday, then three more on Tuesday. The Jaguars announced the hiring of Rod Grace as strength & conditioning coach on Thursday.
