South Alabama on Sunday picked up a football commitment from junior-college defensive back Jordan Scruggs.

Scruggs totaled 38 tackles, five pass breakups, an interception and a fumble recovery this season at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, which went 10-1 and reached the NJCAA semifinals. A Kansas City, Kan., native he originally signed with Division II Washburn out of high school and also spent a year at Central Missouri (also a D2 program).

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Scruggs will sign with the Jaguars next week and enroll in January in time for spring practice. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Scruggs is South Alabama’s 15th commitment for the 2024 class, and first from the junior-college ranks. National signing day is Wednesday.
