South Alabama gets commitment from Florida high school DB

South Alabama on Saturday added its second commitment of the week from the same Florida high school.

Defensive back Keeson Hines-Wheeler of Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach announced he is committed to the Jaguars for the class of 2025. He joins prep teammate Tristan Jackson, who committed to South Alabama on Thursday.

Hines-Wheeler (6-foot, 180 pounds) plays a number of positions for the Indians, but is expected to play safety at the next level. He totaled 28 tackles and six pass breakups as a junior in 2023 for a Choctawhatchee team that finished 10-3.

Hines-Wheeler also has scholarship offers from James Madison, Southern Miss and Western Kentucky, among other schools. He is South Alabama’s fifth public commitment for the 2025 class, four of which come from Florida high school players.

The early signing period begins in December.
