South Alabama football adds FCS defensive line transfer for 2025
South Alabama on Tuesday added former Sacred Heart defensive lineman Janier Armstead to its 2025 roster.
Armstead (6-foot-2, 246 pounds) totaled 25 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the Pioneers — an FCS independent — as a redshirt freshman last season. A native of Carney’s Point, N.J., he had three years of eligibility remaining.
Armstead is the 12th transfer portal addition for South Alabama during the spring cycle. The Jaguars also signed former UAB defensive end Emmanuel Waller, among others, earlier this spring.
South Alabama finished 2024 at 7-6, its third consecutive winning season. The Jaguars open the 2025 season at home Aug. 30 vs. Morgan State.
