South Alabama picked up its second local high school football commitment late Sunday from Theodore defensive lineman Kevin Norwood.

Norwood, who transferred from Blount High School after last season, joins St. Paul’s offensive lineman Asher Hale as Jaguars commitments for 2024. Hale committed to South Alabama early Saturday afternoon.

Norwood announced his commitment via Twitter:

Norwood (6-foot-3, 290 pounds) also had scholarship offers from Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana and Louisville, among other schools. An honorable mention All-Coastal Alabama pick as a junior in 2022, he is rated a 3-star recruit by Rivals.com.

Norwood and Theodore open the 2023 season on Aug. 25 at Baker. The early signing period for the Class of 2024 begins in late December.
