South Alabama basketball routs Hartford, 77-53
Isaiah Moore scored a game-high 20 points as South Alabama routed Hartford 77-53 in non-conference basketball action at the Mitchell Center on Monday night.
Kevin Samuel and Greg Parham each provided 13 points for the Jaguars, with Samuel adding three blocked shots and 11 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. The Jaguars (13-14) won for the fifth time in six games.
South Alabama led throughout, and committed just three turnovers against the lowly Hawks (5-21). All 12 healthy players on the roster saw at least three minutes of action, with nine of them scoring.
“We’re in the winner’s circle, and that’s the objective of the game,” South Alabama coach Richie Riley said. “It was tough. A Monday night game, coming off that win (over Appalachian State) on Saturday and knowing you’ve got Southern Miss on Thursday. There are a lot of factors. I wish we would have played with more energy. But, I did like how we finished the game.”
Pano Pavlidis led the way for Hartford with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Kurt Henderson also scored 12, while Briggs McClain added 10.
South Alabama returns to Sun Belt Conference play at 7 p.m. Thursday vs. Southern Miss.
