South Alabama basketball has landed a second transfer for the 2023-24 cycle in former St. Francis (Pa.) guard Maxwell Land.

The 6-foot-4 Land averaged 12.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this past season for the Red Flash, a member of the Northeast Conference. He shot 36% from 3-point range and 76% from the free-throw line.

Land announced his commitment to the Jaguars on Sunday:

Land, a native of Cincinnati, has one season of eligibility remaining. He joins former Seton Hill guard Samuel Tabe as incoming South Alabama transfers in the current transfer portal cycle, which closes on May 11.

NCAA rules prohibit coaches from commenting on unsigned transfers, but South Alabama’s Richie Riley appeared to acknowledge Land’s commitment via Twitter:

South Alabama, which went 19-14 and reached the Sun Belt Conference tournament championship game in 2022-23, is expected to add two more transfers prior to next season. The Jaguars signed three high school recruits in November: guards John Broome (Jacksonville) and Smurf Millender (Clear Brook, Texas) and forward Ethan Kizer (Metamora, Ill.).
