South Alabama basketball announces Sun Belt schedule
South Alabama’s 2023-24 Sun Belt Conference schedule for men’s basketball has been released.
Richie Riley’s Jaguars open conference play at Old Dominion on Dec. 30, a Saturday. South Alabama then returns home for back-to-back games vs. Appalachian State on Jan. 4 and Georgia State on Jan. 6.
Other Sun Belt home games for South Alabama include Troy (Jan. 18), Louisiana (Jan. 2), Georgia Southern (Feb. 7), Texas State (Feb. 15), Arkansas State (Feb. 17), Southern Miss (Feb. 28) and Louisiana-Monroe (March 1). The Jaguars will travel to James Madison (Jan. 11), Marshall (Jan. 13), ULM (Jan. 25), Troy (Jan. 27), Texas State (Feb. 1), Louisiana (Feb. 3), Southern Miss (Feb. 22), Arkansas State (Feb. 24).
The Sun Belt Conference tournament is set for March 5-11 at Pensacola (Fla.) Bay Center. The Jaguars are also scheduled to travel to Buffalo for the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge on Nov. 11.
South Alabama went 19-15 in 2022-23, reaching the championship game of the Sun Belt tournament. The Jaguars return only a handful of key players from last year’s team, including guard Tyrell Jones, 3-point specialist Judah Brown and forward Marshall Kearing.
