South Alabama adds former OK State DB Lardarius Webb Jr.
South Alabama dipped into the transfer portal for secondary help on Wednesday, adding former Oklahoma State defensive back Lardarius Webb Jr. for its 2024 roster.
Webb (5-foot-10, 175 pounds) is the son of former NFL defensive back of the same name, who spent nine seasons and won a Super Bowl ring with the Baltimore Ravens. He is also a cousin of former South Alabama running back La’Damian Webb, who completed his Jaguars career this past season.
Webb played in four games at Oklahoma State in 2023, which would allow him to take a redshirt year after two years in junior college. That leaves him with two seasons of eligibility remaining at South Alabama.
Webb split his high school days between Beauregard and Jackson (Miss.) Academy. He played two seasons at Jones (Miss.) College, where he was a two-time all-conference pick and totaled 57 tackles, 15 pass breakups and nine interceptions in 19 games and also returned both an interception and a punt for touchdowns.
Webb played safety at Oklahoma State, but is expected to be a cornerback at South Alabama. The Jaguars lost two-year starting corner Marquise “Cuddie” Robinson to Arkansas through the transfer portal after the 2023 season.
South Alabama also officially announced several other transfers who have joined the team since the end of the 2023 season, including offensive lineman Malachi Preciado (Purdue), tight end Andrew Bench (Bowling Green), defensive lineman Bryston Dixon (Georgia Tech) and kicker Laith Marjan (East Carolina). In addition, the Jaguars also announced the addition of junior-college cornerback Jordan Scruggs, who was not required to sign in December because he had previously spent time at a Division II school.
Below is South Alabama’s complete 2024 signing class, including 17 December signees. The Jaguars are expected to add a few more recruits during the February signing period, including long-time commitment Da’Marion “Fluff” Bothwell, a running back from Oneonta.
